Re: Making a seat look vinyl

I wrap the seats on my bikes with vinyl or leather.  I get the leather from ladies gloves, thin it out with a razor blade and wrap it around the seats.  I also picked up a cheap sunglass case that had a vinyl covering which is pretty thin and I've used that as well.  Use a little heat from a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the leather/vinyl so you can stretch it.  I know the thumb on the forehead is a lot cheaper though!!!

Another source of (perhaps thinner) leather is an old wallet or lady's billfold; twenty-five cents at most garage sales.

According to some of the old "oater" films (cowboy movies) wet leather will stretch a bit, then shrink to the former size upon drying. Might be worth looking into.

Good point BTD!!  I forgot about wetting the leather. I'm going to be working on a new bike soon, so I'll give it a try. Thanks!!

My ol55 - or anyone that's used it...

That Plasti-Dip or Coat product - a little off topic - but wondering when I read that, if you spray a part with pam, could you use it to make a part mold for casting?

    Thanks,
